Kerry Andrews was awarded £695 to travel to Sydney, Australia for a five-week placement with the Director of Ausdance. At the time Kerry was a full-time trainee dance manager working in London. report
Kathryn Brandt, from Halifax, who was a senior community dance artist with Ludus Dance Company and then just embarking on a career as a freelance dance artist, was awarded £600 to travel to Guantanamo in Cuba to attend a two-week course in authentic Cuban Dance, drumming, percussion and song with highly acclaimed native artists. report
Penny Collinson was awarded £630 to travel to California to undertake research at the Authentic Movement Institute, to attend their Annual Summer Workshop and to study their archive material. Penny is a freelance performer, teacher and part-time University lecturer. report
Gillian Cornelius, lecturer and freelance dance practitioner from Poole, was awarded £350 to travel to Barcelona for a two-month placement with the Spanish Dance Company, Senza Tempo. report
Marina Grut (neé Keet), President and founder member of the Spanish Dance Society in Europe, living in London, was awarded £200 to travel to Madrid to study with the sole teacher of Escuela Bolero in its original form in order to make video recording to go with book on the Bolera School that she has had published. report
Susan Johnston was awarded £300 towards the cost of travelling to Rio de Janeiro to present a paper at the Encontro Laban Conference. Sue is an action-profiling practitioner. report
Hazel Kayes, a dance teacher, performer and choreographer from Stroud, was awarded £550 towards the cost of travelling to the Ein Khudra Oasis in the South Sinai Desert to spend time with the women from the nomadic Bedouin tribes in order to learn their traditions and styles of dance. (unable to take up scholarship)
Teresa Kelsey, a full-time lecturer in Classical Ballet and Pilates, from London, was awarded £300 towards the cost of travelling to New York City to attend the International Association of Dance Medicine Conference. (unable to take up scholarship)
Robert Lessels, a full-time dance instructor, performer and choreographer from Cambridge, was awarded £300 to travel to Braunschweig in Germany to attend an international B–Boy (Break dancing) dance championship with opportunities to attend seminars, displays and exchange information. report
Hayley Newton aged 18, a freelance dancer, actress and teacher from Guildford, was awarded £660 to travel to Tampa, Florida, for a three-week intensive freestyle American tap course at the University of Florida. (unable to take up scholarship)
Kirstie Richardson was awarded £700 to travel to Seattle, USA, to attend a three-week intensive in Skinner Releasing Technique and to complete Stage 1 of training. Kirstie was awarded a scholarship last year but was unable to take it up. report
Madeleine Samuelson White was awarded £300 towards the cost of travelling to New York City to give a paper in Alexander Technique at the conference of the International Association of Dance Medicine. Madeleine is a retired ballet dancer who teaches Alexander as a means of injury prevention, and as a treatment. Her report was accompanied by a copy of her conference presentation. report
Jasmine Simhalan, from London, a dancer with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, was awarded £750 to travel to Tamil Nadu and Kerala in India to gain more knowledge of the martial art form Kalaripayattu, especially southern Kalari, from different masters in order to help her develop her choreographic skills.
Ani Tchakmakdjian was awarded £600 to travel to Yerevan in Armenia to research the indigenous Armenian dance form for her next choreographic project which focuses on her relationship with her Armenian grandmother, and explores their shared heritage. Ani is a director, choreographer, dancer and teacher. report
William Thorburn was awarded £650 to travel to Rio de Janeiro to spend time with Brazilian Capoeira masters to validate his instructor status, and to enhance his dance performance skills and choreographic ideas. William is a dance soloist, and teacher with Union Dance Company. William presented his report to LUTSF in the form of a video he had made, supported by written account of his travels. report
Ben Wright was awarded £500 to travel to San Diego to spend three weeks with Allyson Green (choreographer) and Peter Terezakis (visual artist) to work collaboratively choreographing a new duet. Ben presented his report in the form of a video, supported by a short written account of his project. report
